Musgrove gets 6-game ban; Virtual Pirates claim Brach
I will be serving as general manager/manage of the Pirates in a 2020 season simulation along with 29 others using Out Of The Park Baseball. Feel free to check here for daily updates. I realize baseball is a lot less important than what is going on in the world today but perhaps it can provide a diversion for a few moments.
PITTSBURGH – The Virtual Commissioner’s Office has spoken, and Virtual Pirates right-hander Joe Musgrove has been suspended for six games.
Musgrove received his ban Friday for his part in a benches-clearing incident a day earlier at PNC Park when he hit Cincinnati Reds pitcher Trevor Bauer with a pitch in the seventh inning.
Bauer charged the mound and was ejected along with Musgrove. Bauer received a two-game suspension.
Musgrove hit Bauer immediately after allowing a home run to Freddy Galvis.
The Pirates lost the game 5-0 in the home opener at Virtual PNC Park. The teams are off Friday before resuming the three-game series Saturday.
The suspension means Musgrove will miss his scheduled start next Wednesday at home against the Chicago Cubs.
Meanwhile, the Virtual Buccos claimed veteran reliever Brad Brach off waivers from the New York Mets on Friday. He will join the team Saturday.
Reliever Yacksel Rios was designated for assignment to clear a roster spot.
