Williams, Virtual Pirates routed by Reds
I will be serving as general manager/manager of the Pirates in a 2020 season simulation along with 29 others using Out Of The Park Baseball. Feel free to check here for daily updates. I realize baseball is a lot less important than what is going on in the world today but perhaps it can provide a diversion for a few moments.
CINCINNATI –
The Virtual Pirates never had a chance.
Mike Moustakas
hit a grand slam as the Virtual Cincinnati Reds built a 13-1 lead after three
innings and coasted to a 13-3 victory on Tuesday night at Virtual Great
American Ball Park.
The Pirates
again missed a chance to get to .500 and have a 26-28 record one-third of the way
through the season.
Trevor
Williams (4-4) was tagged for seven runs and seven hits in just 1 2/3 innings.
He had two strikeouts and no walks.
Adam Frazier
was a bright spot for the Virtual Buccos with three hits. Jacob Stallings,
though, struck out in all four at-bats.
The Reds
scored four runs in the first inning to open the scoring. Moustakas singled in
a run and Jesse Winker hit a three-run home run.
Nicholas Castellanos’
two-run homer sparked a three-run second that pushed the lead to 7-0 and chased
Williams.
Moustakas connected
for his slam in the third inning, when the Reds scored six times to increase
their advantage to 13-1.
Moustakas
finished with five RBIs and Castellanos had three hits and three RBIs. Pedro
Strop (1-0) pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings following opener Michael Lorenzen
for the win.
Pirates
bench coach Craig Wilson was at a loss for words after this one.
The temperature
was 80 degrees at the start of the game with the wind blowing 16 mph from right
to left. Just 18,152 bought tickets for the three-hour, 40-minute affair.
Chris Archer
(4-1, 3.48) will start the middle game of the three-game series Wednesday
night. Trevor Bauer (3-4, 5.75) will pitch for the Reds.
