Brewers' big inning sinks Virtual Pirates
I will be serving as general manager/manager of the Pirates in a 2020 season simulation along with 29 others using Out Of The Park Baseball. Feel free to check here for regular updates. I realize baseball is a lot less important than what is going on in the world today but perhaps it can provide a diversion for a few moments.
PITTSBURGH –
JT Brubaker’s return from the injured list went swimmingly for four innings. Then
everything fell apart in the fifth.
Brubaker
gave up five runs in the fifth inning as the Virtual Milwaukee Brewers broke a
scoreless tie on their way to a 7-4 victory over the Virtual Pirates on Tuesday
night at Virtual PNC Park.
The top two
teams in the National League Central have split the first two games of their
four-game series. The Pirates (80-59) hold a 6 ½-game lead over the Brewers.
Activated
before the game, Brubaker (2-2) wound up being charged with five runs in 4 2/3
innings. He allowed seven hits and four walks, struck out eight and threw 101
pitches.
RBI singles
by Brandon Belt and Keston Hiura highlighted the big inning. After the Pirates
got within 5-4, Belt gave the Brewers breathing room with a two-run home run in
the eighth inning off Richard Rodriguez.
Jacob
Stallings provided the Virtual Buccos’ offensive highlight with a two-run home
run off Brandon Woodruff (12-10). Marcus Semien and Adam Frazier had two hits
each.
Belt
finished with three hits and three RBIs. Corey Knebel notched his 10th
save.
Jarrod Dyson
returned to the active roster and then reinjured his strained hip in the sixth
inning while running the bases. It is yet unclear if Dyson will go back on the
IL.
The
brainchild of Pirates bench coach Craig Wilson, Tuesday started “Give ‘em The Willies”
bobblehead week at PNC Park. The first doll depicted Glenn Wilson, an
outfielder with the Pirates in 1988 and 1989.
Attendance was
32,352 and time of game was three hours and 53 minutes. Most of the game was
played in a light rain on a 65-degree night with the wind blowing out to right
field at 10 mph.
On Wednesday
night, Joe Musgrove (12-5, 3.37) will start for the Virtual Corsairs and face
Kevin Gausman (8-11, 5.00).
