Virtual Pirates' Musgrove four-hits Brewers

I will be serving as general manager/manager of the Pirates in a 2020 season simulation along with 29 others using Out Of The Park Baseball. Feel free to check here for regular updates. I realize baseball is a lot less important than what is going on in the world today but perhaps it can provide a diversion for a few moments.

PITTSBURGH – Joe Musgrove stepped up big for the Virtual Pirates in the heat of a pennant race.

The big right-hander pitched a complete-game four-hitter as the Virtual Buccos downed the Virtual Milwaukee Brewers 8-2 on Wednesday night at Virtual PNC Park.

The Pirates (81-59) extended their lead in the National League Central to 7 ½ games over the Brewers. The Virtual Corsairs have 22 games remaining as they chase an improbable division title.

Musgrove (13-5) threw 114 pitches while striking out six and walking none. The Brewers’ runs came on solo homers by Christian Yelich and Brandon Belt.

The Pirates erupted for five runs in the first inning against Kevin Gausman (8-12). The big blow was delivered by Adam Duvall, who hit a two-run double

Adam Frazier and Gregory Polanco both homered. Frazier’s two-run blast in the fourth inning extended the lead to 7-0.

Polanco had three hits and two RBIs. Marcus Semien also had three hits and Frazier finished with two hits and two RBIs.

Jarrod Dyson went back on the injured list with a strained hip a day after being activated. Jason Martin was called up from Virtual Triple-A Indianapolis to fill Dyson’s roster spot.

The second night of the bench coach Craig Wilson-inspired Give ‘Em The Willies bobblehead promotion featured a doll featuring Gary Wilson. The genial right-hander made 10 relief appearances for the Pirates in 1995.

The Pirates have won twice in the four-game series that concludes Thursday. Chris Archer (8-7, 3.49) will face Josh Lindblom (1-3, 9.12).
