Big first inning powers Virtual Pirates by Brewers

PITTSBURGH – The Virtual Pirates took away much of the suspense early in the opener of their pivotal four-game series with the Virtual Milwaukee Brewers. Travis Swaggerty’s grand slam capped a seven-run first inning and the Virtual Buccos rolled to a 9-2 victory Monday night at Virtual PNC Park. The division-leading Pirates (80-58) moved 7 ½ games in front of the second-place Brewers in the National League Central with 24 games remaining. LOUIS – The Virtual Pirates enter an important four-game home series with the Virtual Milwaukee Brewers coming off taking two of three from the Virtual St. Louis Cardinals over the weekend at Virtual Busch Stadium. That’s four Virtuals in one sentence. Tommy Edman’s RBI single in the bottom of the 12 th inning Sunday gave the Cardinals a 6-5 victory and allowed them to avoid being swept. The first-place Pirates (79-58) remained 6 ½ games ahead of the second-place Brewers in the National League Central. PHILADELPHIA -- The Virtual Pirates’ bid to sweep the season series from the Virtual Philadelphia Phlllies fell one run short. Breyvic Valera doubled home the winning run in the bottom of the 10 th inning off Keone Kela as the Phillies downed the Virtual Buccos 3-2 on Wednesday night at Virtual Citizens Bank Park. The Pirates (77-57) were unable to close out their second three-game sweep of the Phillies this year but remained five games ahead of the second-place Virtual Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Central. Adam Frazier hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning and Trevor Williams pitched one-run ball over seven innings Tuesday night as the Virtual Buccos beat the Virtual Philadelphia Phillies 3-1 at Virtual Citizens Bank Park.
